Supported by Vision 2030, the industrial sector in Saudi Arabia has seen a 60% increase in facilities since the national vision was introduced.
According to a statement by the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program on the X platform, the number of industrial establishments in the Kingdom increased from 7,206 in 2016 to 11,549 in 2023, reflecting Saudi Arabia’s efforts to diversify its economy and position itself as a global manufacturing power.
With 4,502 factories, Riyadh presently leads the world in this regard, followed by Makkah (2,209 factories) and the Eastern Province (2,618 factories).
Other areas with substantial industrial infrastructure are Asir, Madinah, and Al-Qassim; these areas also contribute to the prosperity of the nation as a whole.
The National Industrial Strategy, which Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman launched in October 2022, aims to accelerate this expansion and expand the manufacturing sector to about 36,000 factories by 2035. This increase in industrial enterprises is in excellent accordance with the strategy.
In order to triple the industrial gross domestic product, the plan focuses on 12 industrial sub-sectors and targets more than 800 investment opportunities valued at SR1 trillion ($266.4 billion).
