RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s national One Million Saudis in AI Initiative (SAMAI) has surpassed its target, successfully training more than one million citizens in artificial intelligence skills. According to recent data, 9 percent of participants are working-age Saudis who have already earned official AI skills certificates. SAMAI has emerged as one of the world’s largest AI training initiatives, offering simplified Arabic-language courses that outperform many regional and international programs in accessibility and scale.
Global comparisons of AI education programs highlight SAMAI’s key strengths, including its flexible, locally tailored approach, comprehensive learning modules, and broad access for participants across the Kingdom. The program’s free availability and official certification from the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) further boost its academic and professional value, distinguishing it from non-accredited courses globally.
Launched by SDAIA in partnership with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, SAMAI aims to prepare Saudi citizens for the digital economy and enhance their participation in the country’s technology-driven transformation.
