Prevention Over Treatment: How Saudi Arabia Is Building a Healthier Future

Saudi Arabia is advancing its healthcare sector with a focus on meeting the growing challenges of promoting a healthy society a topic central to discussions at the eighth Global Health Conference in Riyadh. The gathering brought together physicians investors, and policymakers to explore innovative solutions for the future of healthcare in the Kingdom.

Dr. Walid Ftehi, founder and CEO of the International Medical Center, emphasized a “holistic concept of medicine aiming to treat the mind, body and soul as interconnected elements. After returning from the United States, Dr. Ftehi was the determined to raise healthcare standards in Saudi Arabia by integrating global best of practices with ethical values focusing on prevention and a comprehensive approach to well-being.

Highlighting Saudi Vision 2030, Dr. Ftehi pointed out that more than 90 percent of diseases result from lifestyle choices. He stressed that changing habits related to diet, exercise, mental health, and emotional well-being could prevent the majority of chronic illnesses such as obesity, diabetes, and hypertension.Echoing this perspective, Dr. Ashraf Amir, chief medical officer at IMC, underscored the shift from treatment to prevention.
