RIYADH: On Wednesday, Saudi Arabia vehemently denounced remarks made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu advocating for a “Greater Israel.” Netanyahu stated that he is “very attached” to the idea of a “Greater Israel” in an interview with i24 News on Tuesday.
East Jerusalem, the West Bank, Gaza, the Sinai Peninsula, the Golan Heights, and portions of other nearby Arab nations are all considered to be part of Israel’s expansionist territory. According to the Kingdom’s Foreign Ministry, Israeli officials’ “settlement and expansionist ideas and projects” were categorically rejected.
The ministry added that, under applicable international law, the Palestinian people have a historical and legal right to create an independent, sovereign state on their territory. According to the ministry, “The Kingdom cautions the international community against the Israeli occupation’s continued egregious violations that threaten regional and international security and peace, erode the foundations of international legitimacy, and flagrantly violate the sovereignty of states.
On Wednesday, the Israeli military said that the plan for a fresh attack in the Gaza Strip had been authorized. The extended attack plan was approved just days after Israel’s security cabinet demanded that the main city in the Palestinian territories be taken. More than 61,000 Palestinians have died and the humanitarian situation in Gaza has deteriorated throughout Israel’s 22-month conflict.
