Saudi Arabia on Thursday issued a number of royal decrees based on suggestions made by Prince Khalid bin Salman, the country’s minister of defense. They are listed in the following order:
1. Lieutenant General Mutlaq bin Salem bin Mutlaq Al-Azima, the commander of the Joint Forces, will leave the military. He has been assigned to the Royal Court as an advisor.
2. Lieutenant General Fahd bin Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Ghufaili, the former Chief of Staff of the Naval Forces, was relieved of his duties and became Deputy Chief of the General Staff, also holding the rank of lieutenant general.
3. Lieutenant General Fahd bin Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Mutair, the Chief of Staff of the Land Forces, would be released of his duties and given the title of lieutenant general in order to serve as an advisor in the Office of the Minister of Defense.
4. Major General Fahd bin Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al-Salman will become Commander of the Joint Forces and be elevated to the rank of lieutenant general.
5. Major General Fahd bin Saud bin Dhuwaihir Al-Juhni will become the Chief of Staff of the Land Forces and be elevated to the rank of lieutenant general.
6. Major General Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Hamed Al-Gharibi will be named the Chief of Staff of the Naval Forces and will be elevated to the rank of lieutenant general.
7. Advisor at the Cabinet’s General Secretariat After being relieved of his duties, Samir bin Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al-Tabib is appointed Advisor to the Ministry of Defense.
