RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has officially registered with the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) to host World Expo 2030 Riyadh. The Saudi Press Agency said on Friday that Fahd bin Mayouf Al-Ruwaili, the Saudi ambassador to France, gave the document to BIE Secretary General Dimitri Kerkentzes. Kerkentzes said the plan “reflects the Kingdom’s dedication and the significant efforts it is exerting to prepare for this global event and closely cooperate with BIE to ensure its success.” He also commended the clear organizational vision surrounding Expo 2030 Riyadh.
A secret ballot method handed the Kingdom 119 of the 165 votes available, easily defeating South Korea and Italy to be named the successful bidder for the expo at a BIE event in November 2023. The submission signifies the real beginning of the event planning process. According to the SPA, it has a thorough plan outlining every organizational, operational, and procedural component of the event as well as the planned dates of operation.
According to the SPA, it also covers the financial, legal, and regulatory measures, the master plan for the Expo site, the requirements for international involvement, and strategies for making use of the exhibition’s legacy. Before being formally adopted at the organization’s general assembly, the document will be examined by BIE and its members.
