RIYADH: The Saudi ministry of information technology and communications has been assessing plans to offer pilgrims telecommunications services during the next Hajj season. The Saudi Press Agency said on Monday that Haytham Al-Ohali, the acting governor of the Communications, Space and Technology Commission, joined Abdullah Al-Swaha on a tour of sacred locations. According to Al-Ohali, the commission is dedicated to working with both public and private organisations to deliver dependable technology and communication services.
He claimed that 5G and 4G coverage had reached 99 percent and that there were over 10,500 Wi-Fi access points spread throughout Makkah, Madinah, and the sacred places. According to the research, mobile internet speeds in Madinah and Makkah hit 336 Mbps and 264 Mbps, respectively.
In order to evaluate network performance and operational and emergency plans, the officials also toured King Abdulaziz International Airport, Halat Ammar Border Crossing, Yanbu Port, and Jadidat Arar Border Crossing. They also visited facilities run by national telecom and tech companies, including Stc, Mobily, Zain, and Tawal. According to the report, Al-Swaha commended their endeavours to deliver dependable services and emphasised their part in preserving robust digital connectivity at the sacred locations.
