LONDON: On Thursday, Royal Saudi Navy forces wrapped up a combined maritime exercise in Egypt with forces from Greece, Cyprus, France, and the host nation, as well as twelve observing nations. The three-day Medusa-14 naval exercise aims to improve readiness in several sectors and strengthen cooperative maritime capabilities. The last day included anti-submarine operations, asymmetric warfare drills, speedboat attacks, sea landings, and helicopter landings, as well as maneuvers for protecting naval infrastructure.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, forces practiced electronic warfare, amphibious operations, search and rescue, combat diving, and tactical shooting. According to Brig. Gen. Saad bin Safar Al-Ahmari, the Royal Saudi Navy carried out operations and tactics with professionalism and combat readiness.
High-ranking navy officials attended the ending ceremony, including Maj. Gen. Mansour bin Saud Al-Jaeed, commander of the Saudi Western Fleet, which is based at the King Faisal navy Base in Jeddah and patrols in the Red Sea. The exercise also involved naval forces from Egypt, France, Greece, and Cyprus. The forces practiced electronic warfare, amphibious operations, search and rescue, and counterair warfare.
