Tony Blair Meets Palestinian Vice President to Discuss Gaza Ceasefire and Reconstruction

Tony Blair Meets Palestinian Vice President

Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair met on Sunday with Hussein al-Sheikh, vice president of the Palestinian Authority (PA), in Ramallah to discuss plans for Gaza once the current war ends. The talks came ahead of Monday’s scheduled exchange, in which Israel and Hamas are set to release hundreds of Palestinian prisoners and several Israeli hostages under a US-brokered deal.

According to the Wafa news agency, Al-Sheikh and Blair reviewed ways to implement US President Donald Trump’s Gaza peace plan, with the goal of ending the conflict and achieving lasting peace. Al-Sheikh posted on X that the PA is ready to work with Trump, Blair, and other partners to strengthen the ceasefire, enable the entry of humanitarian aid, secure the release of hostages and prisoners, and launch recovery and reconstruction efforts.

He emphasized the need to stop actions that undermine the Palestinian Authority, restore withheld revenues, and protect the two-state solution as a foundation for a comprehensive peace. Blair, included in Trump’s 20-point Gaza plan, will join an international transitional body tasked with directing and supervising Gaza’s redevelopment and funding.
