Trump Claims that the US Midterm Elections will Terminate The Iran War

WASHINGTON — US President Donald Trump has stated that he believes the Iran war won’t end until after the midterm elections in November and that oil prices won’t drop until then. His remarks were made as he was travelling to Texas for the party’s inaugural convention in advance of the midterm elections, which could alter the US government’s power dynamics.

On February 28, Trump declared “major combat operations” against Iran, which would involve large joint U.S.-Israeli strikes against infrastructure, government, and military targets. Trump is under pressure to cease the battle with Iran from members of his own Republican Party and from declining polling numbers.

Following the midterm elections, Trump predicted that the war would stop and oil prices would decline. After the election, I believe the battle will finish right away. He told reporters on Wednesday, “I believe the war will end immediately after the election because they can’t hold out any longer.”

Due to escalating hostilities in the Middle East, oil prices surged to $100 (£74) on Wednesday for the first time since July.Oil prices would plummet immediately following the election, Trump assured reporters. “I think it’s going to take a little bit longer than the midterm.”

Iran was “desperate to try and affect the election, so that we can get a nice weak group of people in there,” he continued, seemingly referring to the Democrats, “and leave them alone and let them have their nuclear weapon.” Tehran has consistently refuted claims that it is pursuing nuclear weapons.

At first, the US president thought the war, which is currently in its seventh month, would only last a few weeks. His approval ratings have sharply declined as a result of the war and its ripple effects on everything from groceries to petrol. The price of fuel and anything that needs to be shipped has increased globally as a result of the recent escalation of fighting in the Middle East and attacks on oil installations across the area.

The US military claimed to have bombed five Iran-affiliated oil tanker tankers on Wednesday. According to Iranian official media, Tehran responded by attacking two US Navy destroyers and eight oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, resulting in “heavy damage” to the ships.
