BEIRUT: Israeli attacks on Monday north and south of the Litani River killed one person and hurt eight others. The fighting between Israel and Lebanon got worse. Israeli officials said the strikes were aimed at “Hezbollah military infrastructure,” but they also impacted residential areas, damaging buildings and neighbourhoods.
The situation got worse after allegations that Israeli troops had dumped chemicals on Lebanese farmland and other places along the Blue Line that separates Lebanon from Israel. The UN Interim Force in Lebanon and the Lebanese Ministry of Environment both condemned this.
The ministry called the event “environmental destruction aimed at weakening the strength of people in southern Lebanon.”An Israeli drone hit a car near Ansariyeh, which is in the Zahrani neighbourhood of the Sidon district, on Monday. The attack killed Hezbollah field commander Abbas Ghadboun, according to statements from the group announcing and mourning his death.
The Lebanese Ministry of Health claimed that four civilians were hurt in the incident. Israel declared that its mission in the area was to get rid of “a Hezbollah terrorist. In Al-Qlailah, an airstrike hit a car and hurt four people. Later, the Israeli army told people in Kfar Tebnit and Ain Qana to leave two buildings and the area around them because they were going to attack “Hezbollah military infrastructure.” Residents reported that the airstrikes that came after the first ones damaged around 10 homes in each village.
