Early Life And Educational Background

We started the interview by asking, “Can you please provide us with some information about yourself, including your early life and education?”

Tariq Jarrar shared, “My journey began in Dubai, UAE, where its vibrant culture and abundant opportunities inspired me. At 15, I moved to the United States to complete my high school education at Stanford High School in Delaware, an experience that significantly broadened my horizons. I pursued my passion for finance and banking at The University of Toledo in Ohio, earning a graduate degree that equipped me with the expertise to thrive in the financial industry.

My career started with an internship at Citibank in Manhattan, which led to a role as Associate Sales and Marketing Manager at Citibank UAE. Over the years, I have gained extensive experience in both banking and real estate. In banking, I held positions at global institutions such as CitiBank, Standard Chartered Bank, and Arab Bank, where I oversaw sales operations.”

Tariq Jarrar added, “In real estate, I served in executive roles, including Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Oriental Pearls Real Estate Development, Head of Sales at Bloom Holding, Communities Director of Sales and Customer Relationship Team (CRT) at Majid Al Futtaim Properties, and Director of Sales at DAMAC.

I transitioned into real estate, leveraging my sales and marketing expertise to drive innovation in the UAE’s dynamic market. As Executive Director at Devmark, the leading development marketing and sales consultancy, I have been instrumental in its growth and success.

Empowering The Team

We were curious to learn more about the factors that make one a successful industry leader. So, we asked, “In your opinion, what qualities make a successful leader in your industry?”

Tariq Jarrar replied, “I believe effective leadership hinges on a clear vision, empathy, accountability, and empowerment. A leader must set achievable goals that align with the broader business objectives and inspire the team. Understanding and connecting with each team member is crucial for building trust and creating a supportive environment.

Accountability ensures that the leader and the team take responsibility for their actions, driving consistent performance. Empowering the team with the necessary tools and autonomy fosters innovation and ownership. My leadership philosophy is rooted in leading by example and practicing servant leadership. I never ask my team to do something I did not do in the past or am not willing to do in the future, which builds a culture of respect, trust, and high performance.”

Revolutionizing Sales With Technology

To learn more about Tariq Jarrar’s perspective on the influence of technology on sales, we asked, “What is the future of sales in a world increasingly driven by technology?”

Tariq Jarrar shared, “The digital revolution presents challenges and opportunities for sales teams. To stay competitive, we must actively integrate new technologies into our strategies.

By leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as AI-driven predictive analytics, chatbots, natural language processing, and Salesforce Automation, we can revolutionize sales processes. These tools streamline operations, improve efficiency, and accelerate sales velocity. To succeed, sales professionals must adopt and adapt to these innovations, harnessing their full potential to drive exceptional results and stay ahead of the curve.”

Message To Beginners, We asked: Tariq Jarrar

Addressing the beginners, we asked, “What advice would you give someone just starting in your field?”

Tariq Jarrar responded, “Starting in any field can feel like a daunting journey, but remember, it’s a marathon, not a sprint. In sales, especially, consistency, continuous learning, and self-improvement are essential. Stay curious, explore new tools and technologies, and always seek opportunities to enhance your skills and leadership abilities.

This industry is constantly evolving, so it’s crucial to be adaptable and open to change. New sales methodologies, technologies, and customer preferences emerge regularly. Don’t be afraid to reinvent yourself both personally and professionally. The mindset that got you to this stage won’t necessarily be the same one that takes you to the next level.”

“Building solid relationships with customers is fundamental to sales success. Focus on understanding their needs, providing value, and building trust. Effective communication and negotiation skills are also essential. Be a good listener, articulate your value proposition clearly, and be prepared to negotiate effectively.

Remember, sales is a numbers game. It’s essential to set realistic goals and track your progress. Celebrate your successes and learn from your setbacks. By maintaining a positive mindset, staying focused, and continuously improving your skills, you can achieve long-term success in sales.” He added.
