RIYADH: From September 11 to 13, the Saudi delegation attended the fifth G20 Space Economy Leaders Meeting in Foz do Iguacu, Brazil, under the leadership of Vice Chairman and CEO Mohammed Al-Tamimi of the Saudi Space Agency.
The theme of this year’s conference, which was started while Saudi Arabia was the G20 president, was “Space Economy and Climate Change: Challenges and Opportunities.” Al-Tamimi emphasised Saudi Arabia’s progress in the space industry and the Kingdom’s dedication to utilising space technology to mitigate climate change and promote sustainable development.
He participated in talks about entrepreneurship, innovation, and climate change while highlighting the Saudi Space Agency’s initiatives to develop sustainable development through investing in infrastructure, attracting investment, and utilising space technology.
To improve cooperation on peaceful space exploration, Saudi Arabia and the Brazilian Space Agency inked a strategic cooperation agreement. Al-Tamimi also met with representatives of the Brazilian and Indian space industries to talk about collaboration in the space economy and to look into potential investment opportunities.
