US Envoy and Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister Talk about Fighting in Sudan.

RIYADH: On the fringes of an international humanitarian conference for Sudan and its neighboring nations, the US special envoy for Sudan, Tom Perriello, and the Saudi deputy minister of foreign affairs, Waleed Elkhereiji, met Monday in Paris. According to the Saudi Press Agency, they spoke about measures to improve collaboration between their nations, the most recent developments in the war-torn nation, and other matters of mutual concern.

According to French President Emmanuel Macron, donors committed more than $2.13 billion in relief during the meeting. The event occurred on the first anniversary of a conflict that humanitarian workers characterized as being ignored yet highly destructive.

They said that the ongoing fighting between the Sudanese army and the rival paramilitary group, the Rapid Support Forces, restrictions imposed by the warring factions, and the financial demands that donors are facing as a result of other global crises, such as the conflicts in Gaza and Ukraine, have stalled efforts to aid millions of people driven to the brink of famine by the civil war.

In Paris, they discussed the war-torn African country on the fringes of an international humanitarian conference. According to the Saudi Press Agency, they talked about other matters of mutual interest, the most recent events in the war-torn nation, and potential avenues for increased military collaboration.
