The eighth Saudi International Medical Education Conference (SIMEC2024) was opened at Jazan University by Emir Prince Mohammed bin Nasser. The Saudi Society for Medical Education, the Deans’ Committee of Medical Colleges in the Kingdom, and the Jazan University Faculty of Medicine are collaborating to arrange the two-day conference.
A tripartite collaboration agreement between Jazan University, the Armed Forces Hospital in Jazan, and Abha International Private Hospital was signed during the conference’s opening session.
The conference covered a wide range of specialized issues related to teaching and learning the fundamental medical sciences, medical education assessment fundamentals, and professional collaboration in education and practice.
“The conference is being organized to keep up with the world in the field of medical education,” said Professor Mohammed Abu Rasin, president of Jazan University, in his welcome address. “This reflects the Kingdom’s vision to promote medical innovation, enhance development, and show the support of the wise leadership for education and knowledge.
According to Dr. Hussein AlZahrani, President of the Saudi Society for Medical Education, the conference, which has as its theme “Education cooperation among health professions: expectations and challenges,” intends to identify obstacles, plan conferences, and offer chances for the advancement of medical education in the Kingdom. It also discusses ways to empower medical faculty members and improve their medical education competencies.
