The United States is deploying around 200 troops to Israel to help monitor and support the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, U.S. officials said. This team will be part of a broader multinational effort that includes partner nations, nongovernmental organizations, and private sector participants.
US Central Command will establish a “civil-military coordination center” in Israel to facilitate the flow of humanitarian aid and coordinate logistical and security assistance for Gaza, which has suffered from two years of intense conflict. The center will be staffed by approximately 200 American service members with expertise in transportation planning security logistics and engineering. Officials emphasised that if no US troops enter Gaza itself, operations will focus on support roles from Israel and potentially neighbouring countries.
The deployment is among the first concrete steps toward and implementing the initial phase of a ceasefire plan brokered by the Trump administration. This effort has aims to oversee ceasefire compliance and support the transition to a civilian government in Gaza while managing ongoing humanitarian needs. Troops have already begun the arriving and will be continue to do so in the coming days as the preparations proceed to establish the coordination center.
