BAGHDAD — After authorities determined that strikes against Saudi Arabia originated from a place inside the southern Iraqi province, Iraqi Prime Minister and chief-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ali Al-Zaidi ordered the dismissal of the chief of Maysan Operations Command.
According to Sabah Al-Numan, a spokesman for the commander-in-chief of the Iraqi Armed Forces, Al-Zaidi also authorised the creation of an investigating council into the Maysan Operations Command. The action came after the Iraqi government issued a statement denouncing the assaults on Saudi Arabia and promising quick action to find the perpetrators.
According to the Iraqi government, any attack endangering Saudi Arabia’s security and stability or damaging the two nations’ long-standing ties would be rejected. Additionally, it applauded Saudi Arabia’s response to Iraq’s attempts to keep the situation under control, stating that the action demonstrated the Kingdom’s dedication to both preserving cooperation between the two nations and ensuring Iraq’s security and stability.
Al-Zaidi issued an order for an immediate investigation into the events leading up to the attacks and the individuals responsible, as well as for the prosecution of anyone discovered to have been engaged. The Iraqi government declared that it “will not tolerate any activity that exposes Iraq or its relations with brotherly and friendly countries to danger.
