Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met with Saudi Deputy Minister for Political Affairs Saud Al-Sati in Tehran on Sunday, marking a significant step in diplomatic engagement between the two countries. The discussions focused on ways to boost bilateral relations and exchanged views on major regional and international issues, including ongoing tensions and opportunities for collaboration in the Middle East.
The meeting, attended by the Saudi ambassador to Iran, Abdullah bin Saud Al-Anzi, continued the momentum of renewed dialogue since diplomatic ties were reestablished in 2023. Both sides emphasized the importance of structured dialogue to navigate regional security challenges, economic integration, and diplomatic initiatives for broader stability. The officials highlighted mutual interests, notably the evolving situations in Palestine, Lebanon, and Syria, reflecting shared concern for regional peace and cooperation.
This engagement signals a commitment from Tehran and Riyadh to maintain open channels of communication, responding proactively to shifting geopolitical dynamics. Institutionalizing regular meetings at ministerial and deputy-ministerial levels is seen as key to fostering consistent, reliable cooperation and reducing tensions in the region.
