Safran Landing Systems, a subsidiary of the French aerospace giant Safran, inked a contract with Morocco on Friday to establish a landing gear plant in the vicinity of Casablanca. The agreement is valued at 280 million euros ($332 million) and is intended to supply the Airbus A320. Safran Chair Ross McGinness made the announcement.
McIness stated that the new factory will help Safran maintain production pace for the Airbus A320 family and prepare for the next generation of short- and medium-haul aircraft. According to Safran, the facility is scheduled to begin operations in 2029. It is currently anticipated that the factory will be one of the largest landing gear production sites of its kind. In October, Safran and the Moroccan government signed agreements to establish a maintenance and repair facility at Midparc, an aerospace-focused industrial zone near Casablanca. These agreements were intended to construct an engine assembly line for Airbus aircraft as well as a maintenance and repair facility of the same name.
