JAZAN: The Jazan region is home to a wide variety of wild plants due to its varied natural conditions, which have contributed to its rich plant diversity. These wild plants have both environmental and pastoral significance.
This has resulted in a wide variety of vegetation cover across its governorates, reflecting the region’s geographical and climatic diversity. This diversity has helped to ensure the long-term viability of the region’s natural resources and the abundance of its environmental components.
There is a shrub known as “Al-Alaqah,” whose scientific name is Dipterygium glaucum. This particular shrub is unique because it occurs in Jazan’s natural habitat and flourishes in the region’s warm climate and open soils. As a result, it has become an essential component of the vegetative cover in a number of locations, particularly in open, semi-arid conditions.
The shrub produces little yellow flowers that appear at intervals along its branches when it blooms, which can occur either in the spring or after we have received rains. Each flower is made up of four very delicate petals.
This plant, which is abundant in nectar, is attractive to bees and pollinators, increasing its environmental and agricultural value. Additionally, it encourages bee activity and helps to support the production of natural honey.
