Mining and Manufacturing Sectors Fuel 5.1% Increase in Saudi Arabia’s Industrial Production

RIYADH: Official data indicate that Saudi Arabia’s Industrial Production Index increased by 5.1 percent in 2025 compared with the previous year, with growth in the mining, manufacturing, and utilities sectors.

In its most recent report, the General Authority for Statistics reported that the Kingdom’s IPI achieved 110.4 points in 2025, an increase from 105.1 in 2024 and 107.5 in 2023. The figures underscore the Kingdom’s ongoing progress in the industrial sector, which is a reflection of its efforts to diversify its economy in accordance with its Vision 2030 agenda.

The annual IPI increased by 5.1 percent in 2025 compared to 2024, primarily due to the increase in mining and quarrying activities, manufacturing activities, electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply activities, and water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation activities, according to GASTAT.

The authority disclosed that the Kingdom’s mining and quarrying activities experienced a 5.8% year-over-year increase in 2025, while manufacturing activity increased by 3.9 percent. Strong performance in critical industries served as the foundation for manufacturing expansion. The production of chemicals and chemical products increased by 9.3 percent, while the output of coal and refined petroleum products increased by 3.7 percent. Additionally, food product manufacturing increased by 2.9 percent.
