RIYADH: In the first four months of 2026, Jordan’s exports to EU nations totaled 218 million Jordanian dinars ($307.48 million), a 49.3 percent increase over the same time the previous year. The expansion, according to Mohammed Samadi, chairman of Jordan’s European Chamber of Commerce, is a clear indication that Jordanian goods are competitive in international markets.
One of Jordan’s main trading partners is the EU, and as part of larger initiatives to increase trade, draw in investment, and promote long-term economic growth, the nation is attempting to diversify its exports and bolster its position in European markets.
Speaking to the state news agency Petra, Samadi stated that the significant increase highlights the effectiveness of recent efforts to expand Jordanian exports and take advantage of opportunities brought about by the diversification of European markets. Jordan’s national exports during the first quarter of 2026 reached 2.12 billion dinars, up 1.6 percent from the same time in 2025, according to a report released earlier this month by Petra.
Given the reliance on a limited number of conventional options, it is challenging to diversify economic and trade relations with this destination, as the EU is one of the Kingdom’s major trading partners and one of the world’s largest trade blocs, according to Samadi.
