DUBAI: According to Emirates News Agency, on Sunday, a humanitarian aid shipment from the UAE containing 252 tonnes of food arrived in Gaza to go north of the enclave.
The shipment arrived from Larnaca, Cyprus, via the maritime corridor. Cooperation from the US, Cyprus, UK, EU, and UN was required for the delivery.
The supplies, which were unloaded at UN warehouses in Deir Al-Balah, are waiting to be distributed to Palestinians in need.
Reem Al-Hashimy, the Emirati Minister of State for International Cooperation, stated that the food supplies would be delivered and distributed as part of the UAE’s efforts to address the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip and provide relief in coordination with international partners and humanitarian organizations.
She continued, “The UAE continues to provide Gaza with critical humanitarian aid and supplies under its historical commitment to the Palestinian people and under the direction of its leadership.”
Since the war started in October, the UAE has transported more than 32,000 tonnes of critical humanitarian supplies, such as food, relief, and medical supplies, through 260 flights, 49 airdrops, and 1,243 trucks.
