RIYADH: According to the Saudi Press Agency, a Saudi scientific and engineering team departed the Kingdom today to compete at the Regeneron International scientific and Engineering Fair 2025 in Columbus, Ohio.
More than 1,700 students from 70 countries will participate in the event, which is the largest scientific forum for research and creative projects for pre-university students worldwide. It will take place from May 10 to 16.
Since 2007, the Kingdom, represented by Mawhiba and the Ministry of Education, has taken part in this event every year and has won 160 awards in total, including 110 grand prizes and 50 special prizes, according to SPA.
The 40 students on the Saudi team were chosen from among the top winners of the major awards in the National Olympiad for Scientific Creativity, or Ibdaa 2025, and are engaged in outstanding projects in exciting scientific domains. Mawhiba provides 20 programs for bright children each year, and these finalists were selected from a competitive pool of 200 students whose ideas advanced to the Olympiad’s final stage. In late 2024, ISEF’s organising board revealed that 40 Saudi projects will be attending the 2025 show, up from 35 in prior years.
