RIYADH: From May 12 to 14, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Justice, Dr. Walid Al-Samaani, participated in the G20 Summit of Supreme Courts and Constitutional Courts in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

According to a Saudi Press Agency report on Tuesday, talks centred on examining cutting-edge technologies employed by G20 courts and incorporating technology, notably artificial intelligence, into justice systems.

The summit’s agenda included advancing social inclusion and citizenship, climate litigation and sustainable development, and improving judicial efficiency through digital transformation.

The Family Affairs Council’s secretary-general, Dr. Maimoonah Al-Khalil, led the delegation, which attended the G20 Women’s Empowerment Working Group meeting in Brazil on May 14–15.

“Equality, Economic Independence, and the Care Economy” was the topic of the first day’s session; “Equality and Confronting Violence and Discrimination against Women” was the subject of the second.

The topic of “Equality and Climate Justice” will be discussed as the meeting ends on day two.

The Family Affairs Council represents Saudi Arabia in the G20, focusing on women’s empowerment.

The Women’s Empowerment Working Group, initiated under the Indian presidency in 2023, began its work under the Brazilian presidency this year.
