RIYADH: On Sunday, Saudi Arabia led a new wave of regional criticism of Israel’s repeated violations of the ceasefire in Gaza, which have killed and injured more than 1,000 Palestinians. The foreign ministers of the Kingdom, the UAE, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Turkiye all said in a joint statement that the violations were a hazardous escalation that might make things worse and make it harder to restore calm and stability, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
They joined Qatar, Jordan, and Egypt, who on Saturday spoke out against what they called persistent ceasefire violations and warned that they could hurt efforts to calm things down and keep the area stable.
The ministers said that the fresh news comes at a very important time, as regional and international efforts to move on with the second phase of the peace plan suggested by US President Donald Trump and carry out UN Security Council Resolution 2803 are getting stronger. They said that the frequent violations are a direct threat to the political process and might stop efforts to make Gaza safer and more stable for both security and humanitarian reasons.
