The 2024 Saudi Green Initiative (SGI) Forum, with the subject “Action is in our nature,” will be held on December 3–4.
The sixteenth session of the Conference of the Parties (COP16) of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), which will take place in Riyadh from December 2 to 13, will be concurrent with this year’s SGI Forum. The conference will be the biggest multilateral gathering ever held in Saudi Arabia and the largest UNCCD event ever organized in the Middle East.
Hundreds of global experts, business executives, and policymakers will assemble at the SGI Forum at the UNCCD COP16 Green Zone’s special SGI Pavilion.
With the goal of strengthening cooperation and accelerating climate action for a more sustainable future, the pavilion will include hundreds of specially designed talks examining innovations, best practices, and advancements made toward SGI targets.
Since SGI’s founding, more than 95 million trees and bushes have been planted, more than 1,660 endangered animals have been rewilded throughout the Kingdom, and more than 4 GW of renewable energy capacity has been installed.
The SGI Pavilion will be accessible to the general public during COP16 and provide an engaging look at Saudi Arabia’s environmental and climate initiatives. A multimedia showcase and a wide spectrum of experts will offer insights into over 80 initiatives undertaken under the SGI framework at the 4,000 m² SGI Gallery.
