ISLAMABAD/KABUL: After air strikes on Afghanistan, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif declared on Friday that his country’s military can “crush” anyone who attacks them. Sharif declared on the Pakistani government’s X page, “Our forces have the full capability to crush any aggressive ambitions.
He remarked, “The whole country stands with the Pakistan armed forces. Earlier, a spokeswoman for the Afghan government confirmed that Pakistan had conducted out airstrikes in Kabul and two other Afghan provinces. This was the latest in a series of violent events between the two nations that made a ceasefire mediated by Qatar seem less and less likely to hold.
At least three explosions could be heard in Kabul, but there was no immediate word on where the strikes happened in the Afghan capital or if there were any injuries. Zabihullah Mujahid, a spokesperson for the government, added that Pakistan also bombed Kandahar in the south and Paktia in the southeast.
Pakistani officials quickly acknowledged the strikes in response. In a post on X just after the attacks, Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said that the Taliban regime was “open war.” “We can’t wait any longer.” He wrote, “Now it is open war between you and us.
