Jubail’s Regional Fisheries Development Centre is opened by Saudi Aramco

Jubail's Regional Fisheries Development Centre is opened by Saudi Aramco

Saudi Aramco announced on Thursday the establishment of the Regional Centre for Sustainable Development of Fisheries (RCSDF) on Abu Ali Island in Jubail, on the Arabian Gulf coast. The Arabian Gulf Branch was founded in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture.

By this partnership, Saudi Aramco hopes to draw attention to its investments in citizenship programs and its endeavours to promote economic development, assist regional fishermen and their means of subsistence, develop knowledge, and implement best practices to boost output and raise fish of competitive sizes that can compete on a worldwide scale.

The facility is part of the business’s larger initiatives to save the Arabian Gulf’s marine life. On Abu Ali Island, a fish hatchery will be established to produce native fish species that have suffered population losses due to fishing methods and release them into Gulf waters.

From the hatching of eggs using broodstock to the raising of larvae using locally generated plankton to the discharge of juvenile fish into the Arabian Gulf, the center’s operations are planned to cover the whole fish life cycle within specified tanks. The hatchery uses cutting-edge aquaculture technology to guarantee fish health and top-notch water recycling methods to improve efficiency and fulfil the company’s circular economy goals.
