Chinese Premier and Saudi Crown Prince Hold High-Level Talks

RIYADH: At the fourth meeting of the High-Level Saudi-Chinese Joint Committee on Thursday, discussions were led by Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang and Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The discussions centred on “strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries across all fields,” according to state news agency SPA, with the intention of improving Saudi-Chinese relations. They also discussed important global and regional issues that they both found interesting.

A statement issued following the meeting stated, in part, that “both parties commended the robust economic, trade, and investment relations between the two nations, with Saudi Arabia being China’s top trading partner in the Middle East and reciprocally, China being the Kingdom’s foremost trading partner.”

According to SPA, during the meeting, the parties explored ways to improve collaboration in a number of areas, including politics, security, trade and investment, energy, defence, energy, science, technology, culture, and tourism.

Meanwhile, Lin Jian, a spokesman for the Chinese foreign ministry, wrote on social media platform X: “Premier Li emphasised that #China and #SaudiArabia have maintained mutual respect, trust, and benefit, as well as mutual learning & understanding, under the strategic guidance of the two countries’ leaders. The two-way relationship has flourished in many areas of cooperation, developing thoroughly, quickly, and deeply.
