The Historic District of Jeddah, Cruise Saudi Partners to Increase Tourism and Economic Growth

JEDDAH: The Jeddah Historic District Programme and Cruise Saudi have partnered to boost foreign cruise visitors to the city while maintaining its cultural and historical integrity.

Founded in 2018 under the Ministry of Culture’s direction, the programme manages several projects in the so-called Historic Jeddah area, with the goal of advancing it as a cultural hub.

The Public Investment Fund owns Cruise Saudi, which oversees the infrastructure and services related to cruises, including constructing terminals and running shore excursions. Since its founding, Cruise Saudi has received over 300,000 cruise passengers.

The two parties inked a memorandum of understanding to enhance visitor experiences and promote the area while utilizing private sector expertise to spur economic activity.

The initiative is anticipated to support small businesses, generate employment, and foster long-term economic growth for the community as a whole. According to Abdulaziz bin Ibrahim Al-Issa, director general of the Jeddah Historic District Programme, “the tourism sector is experiencing growth and prosperity, which contributes to enhancing the Kingdom’s presence on the global tourism map in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
