ANKARA: Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan urged the European Union to assist in the repatriation of Syrians who fled the nation during the 13-year civil conflict and stated on Tuesday that Syria needs an inclusive government. At a joint news conference in Ankara with Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission, Erdogan stated, “We have seen that we agree on the establishment of an inclusive administration in Syria.”
Western nations continue to label the Hayat Tahrir Al-Sham (HTS) group as a terrorist organization, but they are progressively opening their doors to the new Damascus government. Erdogan clearly mentioned Daesh and Kurdish militant groups when he stated that there was no room for terrorist organizations in the area. Hakan Fidan, the Turkish foreign minister, has emphasized the significance of an inclusive transition process in Syria in the past. Erdogan also urged the European Union to help millions of Syrians who fled the conflict return to their homeland in Turkey.
“We anticipate that the European Union will back the return to Syria,” he stated.
