The first regulations for Saudi yachts operating within the designated geographical scope have been introduced by the Saudi Red Sea Authority (SRSA). The regulations aim to control yacht activities, establish prerequisites, and oversee issuing licenses and permits for tourism and leisure. In keeping with SRSA’s goal of creating a sustainable coastal tourism industry, this regulation places a strong emphasis on environmental preservation, sustainability, and safety standards. The rule complies with the objectives of the SRSA, which include granting licenses and permits, establishing guidelines for coastal tourism operations, guaranteeing the preservation of the Red Sea’s marine environment, and promoting professionals and enthusiasts.
Enhancing user experiences and advancing the maturity of the coastal tourism sector are the goals of this initiative. The new regulation delineates the requirements for authorised maritime agents or yacht owners, as well as the conditions and procedures for the issuance of technical licenses for leisure tourism. Conditions for tourism chartering licenses are included, such as the need for a contract between the agent and the charterer, a licensed maritime tourism agent or yacht management company, secure marina-to-yacht access, and an onboard safety guide. The rule also specifies how to apply for a Red Sea tourism trip permit in Saudi Arabia, including the necessary passenger data, sailing destinations, and charter agreements.
