In Collaboration With the Environmental Awareness Society, Saudi Awwal Bank Opens the Prince Faisal Bin Mishaal Center for Native Plant Conservation and Propagation

The “Prince Faisal bin Mishaal Centre for Native Plant Conservation and Propagation” in the Al-Qassim Region has been opened by Saudi Awwal Bank (SAB), one of the top banks in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. As part of SAB’s contribution to the Saudi Green Initiative (SGI), the project was started in partnership with the Environmental Awareness Society.

The Emir of the Al-Qassim Region, Prince Dr. Faisal bin Mishaal bin Saud, sponsored the opening ceremony. At the ceremony, which was attended by representatives led by Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Alsoqeer, Chairman of the Environmental Awareness Society, and Yasser Al-Barrak, Chief Corporate and Institutional Banking Officer at SAB, the Emir inspected the project’s development.

This center, the first of its kind in the Kingdom, aims to raise awareness of the value of natural vegetation while conserving and promoting native plant species. A training hall, a seed bank, plant nurseries, a herbarium, and a botanical garden exhibiting important native flora of the Kingdom are among its amenities.

Additionally, the center places a high priority on research, assisting scholars and graduate students in fields such as native plant conservation and desertification mitigation. 10,000 natural trees will be planted as part of the initiative to create a forest around the center, supporting the Saudi Green Initiative’s objectives.
