The Ministry of Interior declared on Saturday that during inspection operations conducted in different parts of Saudi Arabia during the last week, security authorities had detained 22094 illegal inhabitants in total. The arrests took place between September 26 and October 2. Among those arrested were 13,731 Residency Law infractions, 4,873 Border Security Law infractions, and 3,490 Labour Law infractions.
Of the 1,337 individuals who were arrested while attempting to enter the Kingdom through the border, 44% were Yemeni nationals, 53% were Ethiopians, and 3% were of other nationalities. Additionally, 37 individuals were arrested while trying to enter the Kingdom illegally.
The Ministry of Interior has warned that any person who facilitates the illegal entry of individuals into the Kingdom, transports them on its territory, provides them with shelter or any other assistance or service may be penalized with up to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to SR1 million, and that the vehicles used for transportation or houses used for giving shelter will be confiscated. The ministry urged the public to report any cases of violation by calling 911 in Makkah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province and 999 and 996 in the rest of the Kingdom’s regions.
