RIYADH: To start his field trips to the locations highlighted in the Saudi Summer program, Minister of Tourism Ahmed Al-Khateeb, who also serves as the head of the Saudi Tourism Authority, has travelled to the Taif governorate. Launched in May under the motto “Colour Your Summer,” the campaign runs through September and highlights locations ranging from the cooler highlands of Taif, Baha, and Asir to Jeddah and the coastal getaways of the Red Sea. Through alliances with more than 200 private sector organisations, it provides more than 250 unique deals.
A group of high-ranking officials from the ministry and the travel industry were led by Al-Khateeb. In order to evaluate the visitor experience, inspect the facilities, and monitor the quality of the services, the visit included tours to Taif’s tourist attractions. According to the Saudi Press Agency, he expressed delight with the visit and emphasised Taif’s natural beauty and temperate temperature, which contribute to its status as a major tourist destination in the Kingdom and the region.
Over 3.6 million domestic and foreign visitors visited Taif in 2024, increasing 9% from 2023, according to tourism data. According to the SPA, 266 tourism establishment permits were granted, and annual tourism spending was SR3.4 billion ($906 million).
