The Saudi Press Agency said on Monday that the Kingdom took home six medals from the 65th International Mathematical Olympiad 2024, which took place at the University of Bath in the United Kingdom from July 15 to July 21.
Teams of up to six competitors competed annually, tackling two 4.5-hour exams covering three difficult issues over the course of two days.
A silver medal was earned by Hadi Al-Aithan from the Al-Ahsa education department. Ahmed Al-Shehri (Riyadh), Muath Al-Qahtani (Eastern Province), Mohammed Rabie (Madinah), and Youssef Bakheet (Yanbu) all took home bronze medals.
The Eastern Province’s Muhammad Al-Ghamdi was given a certificate of appreciation.
Under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Education and the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity, or Mawhiba, the Saudi Arabian team took part.
The Mawhiba International Olympiad program, one of 20 projects based on advanced curriculum and other development programs presented annually, includes Saudi Arabia as a participant.
According to the SPA, these programs give talented students the chance to advance their abilities while working with regional and global partners.
At the yearly competition, Saudi Arabia has already taken home 77 accolades, including 19 certificates of appreciation, 12 silver medals, and 46 bronze medals.
