Following the death of a Hamas commander in Tehran, which Israel is believed to have caused, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have expanded its fleet to include long-range missiles and drones, according to official media on Friday.
The first direct strike on Israel by the Islamic republic in April was mostly orchestrated by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the ideological wing of Iran’s armed forces with connections to armed organizations around the Middle East that are affiliated with Tehran.
“A large number of new anti-ship cruise missiles were added to the IRGC naval forces by the order of the Guards chief,” Iranian state TV announced on Friday.
The rockets’ “high-explosive warheads and untraceable nature” give them “new capabilities,” the statement continued.
The study states that the Guards’ naval forces now consist of 2,654 military systems, like as electronic warfare units, long- and medium-range missiles, and drones for combat and reconnaissance.
Speaking at a gathering where some of the latest military systems were on display, IRGC commander general Hossein Salami emphasized the significance of being able to “stop the enemy from afar.”
“We will naturally have problems at our national borders if we cannot engage with the enemy in the depths of the sea and oceans at any desired point and stop the enemy from afar,” the speaker stated.
