Iran Claims that it Anticipates Hezbollah Attacking Deeper into Israel

After Israel murdered the Hezbollah military commander, Iran stated on Saturday that it anticipates the Tehran-backed organization from Lebanon, Hezbollah, to strike further within Israel and no longer be limited to military targets.

Following its Palestinian affiliate Hamas’s attack on Israel on October 7, which sparked a conflict in Gaza, Hezbollah and Israeli forces have been engaging in almost daily gunfire. Hezbollah claims to be targeting military locations over the border.

However, Iran’s representation to the UN warned that an Israeli hit in a busy South Beirut residential neighborhood altered the equation.

“We anticipate that Hezbollah will select additional targets and intensify its response,” stated the mission, which was cited by the official IRNA news agency.

Second, it won’t restrict how it responds to military objectives.

Fuad Shukr, the leader of Hezbollah, was murdered in the attack on Tuesday. Three women and two children were among the five civilians who perished, according to Lebanon’s health ministry.

Israel said that Shukr was in charge of the missile fire that murdered 12 young people in the Golan Heights and that from the start of the Gaza War, Hezbollah had been attacking Israel.
