Jeddah is Under a Red Alert Since the NMC Oredicts Significant Rain on Monday

In anticipation of heavy rainfall in Jeddah from 6:00 am to 3:00 pm on Monday, the National Center of Meteorology (NMC) issued a red alert. Strong gusts, low horizontal visibility, hail, torrents, high waves, and thunderstorms are the side effects of the weather condition, according to the center.

In the meantime, the Crisis and Disaster Management Center in the Makkah emirate urged beachgoers and highway drivers to exercise caution and stay away from flooded or wet places. This follows predictions that on Monday and Tuesday, moderate to major thunderstorms with hail, dust storms, and high waves will strike the governorates in the area.

With thunderstorms predicted for several parts of the Kingdom on Saturday, the General Directorate of Civil Defense asked the public to be extremely vigilant and cautious. It urged people to avoid valleys and areas that are prone to floods, especially when swimming, and to remain in safe areas. Due to the thunderstorms predicted to hit most parts of the Kingdom until Wednesday, the Civil Defense advised that the instructions posted on social media channels be adhered to.
