RIYADH: According to the Saudi Press Agency, King Salman of Saudi Arabia officially opened the Riyadh Metro project on Wednesday.
According to SPA, the project is the foundation of Riyadh’s public transportation system.
King Salman viewed an introductory film about the project, which stands out for its remarkable technical specs and design.
The Riyadh Metro network comprises 85 stations, including four major stations and six train lines totalling 176 kilometres.
Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman stated, “The Riyadh Public Transport Project, which includes metro and bus networks, is the result of King Salman’s visionary leadership and his concerted efforts while serving as the Chairman of the High Commission for the Development of Arriyadh, the predecessor of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City.”
The High Commission for the Development of Arriyadh produced several studies that led to the introduction of the Public Transport Project in Riyadh City. The finest ideas and solutions for creating a sustainable public transportation system that is in line with the city’s features were determined by the research, which took into account the capital’s public transportation sector’s present and future needs. The metro will open to the public on December 1st and run every day from 6 a.m. until midnight.
