Madinah has earned global recognition for its innovative governance and institutional capacity after being featured prominently in the Public Sector Capabilities Index 2025. The report has compiled by the University College London Institute for Innovation and the Public Purpose in partnership with Bloomberg Philanthropies, evaluated 45 cities worldwide based on their ability to adapt and transform collecting insights from more than 200 government officials and 100 international experts.
Madinah distinguished itself by successfully implementing the Innovative Government Excellence in Model, which was created by the Madinah Region Development Authority and the local municipality, as well as by embracing innovative governance techniques. This paradigm strengthens local governance and integration by encouraging cooperation, adaptability, and partnership between public and commercial entities as well as the local population.
Guided by Governor Prince Salman bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz Madinah’s leadership continues to advance initiatives aligned with Saudi Vision 2030 aimed at improving public services, enhancing quality of life and promoting sustainable urban growth. This city’s approach positions it as a model for innovation sustainability and effective governance in the Saudi and global context.
