Monday saw a lot of rain in the Makkah and Madinah regions, particularly in the city of Jeddah and other parts of the governorate. Rainwater inundated many streets and squares, disrupting the efficient flow of traffic on the highways and streets in Makkah, Jeddah, and Madinah.
The Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture reported that other parts of the Kingdom had moderate to heavy rainfall. With 49.2 mm of rainfall, Al-Shafiyah in the Badr governorate in the Madinah region had the highest rate. In comparison, Al-Basateen district in Jeddah city had the second-highest amount at 38 mm.
According to the ministry’s Environment Agency, the Madinah region received the most rainfall. 36.1 mm was reported at the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah’s Central Haram Area, 33.6 mm at the Al-Masjid in Badr, 28.4 mm at the Quba Mosque, 26.8 mm at the Sultana district, and 23.0 mm at each of Al-Suwaidriya and Badr.
The ministry’s report states that rain is falling and will continue to fall in the Makkah, Madinah, Qassim, Tabuk, Northern Borders, and Al-Jouf regions between nine in the morning on Sunday, January 5, and nine in the morning on Tuesday, January 7.
The city of Jeddah’s alert level has been reduced from red to orange, according to the National Center of Meteorology (NCM). Additionally, it suggested there would be thunderstorms, big waves, severe winds, nearly no visibility, and moderate rain.
