Millions attend completion of Qur’an recitation

RIYADH: On the 29th night of Ramadan, more than 2.5 millions worshippers assembled at the Grand Mosque for Isha and Taraweeh prayers, taking part in the completion of Qur’an recitation, according to the Saudi Press Agency. The Grand Mosque has been packed since the early morning hours, as Umrah performers keep coming into Makkah all day.

Leading the prayers, Sheikh Abdulrahman Al-Sudais, the imam of the Grand Mosque in Makkah and the chairman of the Presidency of Religious Affairs at both the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, prayed for the salvation and forgiveness of all Muslims.

In order to guarantee the comfort of guests, the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque organized transportation, managed cleaning and disinfection, and guided Umrah performers and worshippers to designated prayer locations.

The Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah also saw the completion of the Qur’anic recitation during Taraweeh prayers in a calm and secure environment.

Sheikh Salah Al-Budair, the imam of the Prophet’s Mosque, led the attendees and offered prayers for Muslims to pardon them.
