Officially, The Hajj Ends When The Surviving Pilgrims Say Goodbye to Mina

MAKKAH — On the third day of Tashreeq, pilgrims finished the stoning ceremony at three Jamarat in Mina on Monday afternoon before departing the Tent City for Makkah to execute the final required Hajj rite, Tawaf Al-Wida (Farewell Tawaf).

On Monday afternoon, pilgrims who had remained in Mina on Sunday night to carry out the stoning ceremony for the fourth day in a row hurled rocks at three Jamarat. Inside the expansive Jamarat Complex, which is guarded by a number of security officers, medical personnel, and volunteers, they threw seven pebbles apiece, first at Jamarat Al-Sugra, then at Jamarat Al-Wusta, and last at Jamarat Al-Aqaba.

The hassle-free yearly pilgrimage came to a joyful and spiritual conclusion as they departed Mina for Makkah to perform Tawaf Al-Wida. They moved surprisingly smoothly to and from Makkah and the Jamarat. After completing the Hajj and meeting the fifth pillar of Islam, pilgrims say goodbye to Mina with fond recollections and a self-realization that they have finished the once-in-a-lifetime spiritual trek. Acts of obedience, surrender, and worship of God enhance the memories and stories of love and fulfilment that permeate every time and place within the sacred locations.
