In the first half of 2024, the number of travelers using Qatar’s Hamad International Airport increased by 25% year over year to 25.9 million.
In contrast to the first half of 2023, cargo operations increased by 12% over the period, while aircraft mobility and the total number of bags handled both increased by 19%.
The increase in numbers denotes the expansion of the airport and is indicative of both the thriving tourism industry in the Gulf country and the notable expansion in the number of airline partners operating out of Hamad International.
In the first half of 2023, there was a 22.1 percent yearly growth in point-to-point passengers (those who flew into and out of Doha directly) compared to the same period the previous year, according to the statement.
The announcement also disclosed that in 2024, the airport welcomed new airline partners, such as China Southern Airlines, Japan Airlines, Garuda Indonesia, and Akasa Air, as part of its network expansion. This comes after Vistara, Iberia, and Xiamen Airlines joined the network in the latter part of last year.
These improvements highlight the airport’s commitment to improving connectivity and providing travelers with more options for where to go.
