Russian Drone Attack On Kyiv Leaves Apartment Building in Flames

Russian strikes across Ukraine overnight left at least two people dead and dozens injured, according to authorities, as a nationwide air alert was declared early Sunday. In Kyiv, the State Emergency Service reported that one person was killed and 18 others wounded after missiles damaged several high-rise buildings. Firefighters were seen battling flames on upper floors before the blaze was contained. Rescue operations were still underway, officials said.

The nationwide alert was issued at 6:06 a.m. (0306 GMT). In the Sumy region, regional governor Oleg Grygorov confirmed that one person was killed and several others injured, including a nine-year-old child, after strikes near the town of Putyvyl.

In the southeast, a Russian drone attack on Zaporizhzhia on Saturday night left at least 15 people wounded, four of them hospitalized, said regional head Ivan Fedorov, who shared photos of destroyed residential buildings.

Currently, Russian forces occupy about 20 percent of Ukraine’s territory. The latest barrage followed a pledge by more than 20 nations, led by France and Britain, to form a reassurance force to monitor any potential peace deal. Russian President Vladimir Putin, however, warned that any Western troops deployed in Ukraine would be treated as “legitimate targets.
