Saudi Arabia’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Abdulaziz Al-Wasil, has been honored with the 2025 Spirit of the UN Award in the Diplomat Category for his role in advancing multilateralism, dialogue, and global cooperation.
Al-Wasil, who was elected vice president of the UN General Assembly in June, also chaired the Commission on the Status of Women this year. Expressing gratitude on X, he said the recognition reflects “the enduring principles of multilateralism and the shared commitment of the international community to peace, dialogue, and cooperation.”
The Saudi envoy has played a key role in recent global initiatives, including co-chairing the Two-State Solution Conference with France in September. The event prompted several nations to acknowledge Palestinian statehood, marking a significant step toward regional peace and stability.
Al-Wasil dedicated the award to all those who “uphold the ideals of the UN in building a more peaceful and compassionate world,” as well as to his mentors, family, and colleagues at the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The award also underscores the Kingdom’s active participation in shaping dialogue among nations within the United Nations framework.
