Saudi Arabia and Hungary Establish the Groundwork for Further Defence Cooperation

RIYADH: A significant turning point in bilateral ties has been marked by Hungarian Defence Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky’s historic visit to Saudi Arabia, which represents the first formal defence conversation between the two countries. The minister praised Saudi Arabia’s proactive approach to diplomacy and highlighted its increasing importance as a regional stabiliser in an exclusive interview with Arab News.

Strengthening military connections, initiating cooperative training programs, and investigating potential technical collaboration were the main topics of his conversations with Prince Khalid bin Salman, Minister of Defence.

This visit is significant since it is the first time that the defence ministers of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Hungary have met in person. It was a privilege to accept His Royal Highness’s invitation during a period of significant and intricate change in the global security landscape.

Stability is no longer something we can take for granted in this day and age. The globe needs strong regional anchors in such a climate—visionary governments that can portray stability both inside and outside of their borders. Saudi Arabia undoubtedly has a part in this.
