Saudi Arabia and Kuwait Establish an AI Collaboration to Promote Innovation and Governance

By establishing a strategic relationship aimed at promoting standards, research, and responsible development in the Artificial Intelligence of Things, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait have made a major contribution to enhancing regional cooperation on artificial intelligence governance and innovation.

Kuwait’s Association of Artificial Intelligence of Things and the Kingdom’s Artificial Intelligence Governance Association, which is technically overseen by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority, have inked a memorandum of agreement.

The objectives of the pact include enhancing collaboration on AI governance standards, fostering information sharing, bolstering scientific research, and stimulating innovation in the nascent AIoT space.

All GCC countries have established national policies to promote economic diversification and digital transformation, according to a Boston Consulting Group report released in April, which emphasised the Gulf region’s strategic prioritisation of AI. Sheikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Sabah and AIGA Chairwoman Dhabia bint Ahmed Al-Buainain signed the pact.

The agreement is the result of a common goal to strengthen regional collaboration in the field of artificial intelligence and its governance, as well as to establish strategic alliances that promote ethical and creative AI applications and policies among the Gulf states.
